Migrant entrepreneurship in Tampere
There are many opportunities for foreigners in the Helsinki Metropolitan area, but what about other cities. What are they doing to help immigrants find work or start entrepreneurship?
The City of Tampere Employment and Growth Services provides free advice and support to Tampere job seekers on employment and skills development. They also offer services to employers and support the growth of companies by promoting the employment of suitable and skilled people. They also advise those who are interested in self-employment and consider going the entrepreneurial path. The City of Tampere is more determined than ever to explore migrant background entrepreneurship and facilitate support services for them.
New initiatives have started
The City of Tampere is organizing different activities for internationals talents living and searching for work in the Tampere Region. International HUB Tampere, a collaboration between Tampere University and the City of Tampere, created and coordinated the Tampere region service model, which brings companies and international experts together efficiently.
The support is there
Ramona Bilmez, Business Coordinator of the City of Tampere Employment and Growth Services, with the strong support from her team, helps to promote and develop an entrepreneurial path for entrepreneurs with a foreign background. One of the recently developed services is weekly held Pop-up Info desk at Tribe Tampere (Pinninkatu 47, Tampere), from where you can get the guidance, as well as practical help, which is available in Finnish and English.
"City wants to hear from you. Pop-up info desk is a perfect way to reach out, get needed support, and influence the development process", Ramona emphasizes.
Community is engaged
